Britney’s #1 Again!

Femme Fatale debut at #1 at the Billboard Hot 200 this week! This marks her 6th album to debut at the top which is truly a remarkable feat. This gives her the 3rd spot for the most #1’s for a female artist behind only Madonna and Barbara Streisand and tie with Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson. Wow! That’s incredible… I mean it’s one thing for an artist to reach #1 but to actually debut at that spot 6 times is an achievement worthy of a true pop icon and of course, such dedicated fans. I’m bummed that the album doesn’t arrive here until the end of April but I’m happy with this news.

This album is her 7th studio release in which all, except for one, became no. 1. To my surprise, that one was Blackout which for me is one of her best so far (tie with Circus). Blame it on the VMA performance I guess and that underwhelming video. Moving on, Hold It Against Me was kind of like Womanizer in a way because I wasn’t sure how I felt about the song upon hearing for the first time but eventually, I couldn’t get it out of my head. With her 2nd video Till The World Ends already released and a much-talked about tour with Nicki Minaj, 2011 may be Britney’s best year yet. 🙂

Queens of Pop release greatest hits.

Celebration_cover_double_discLet’s start this one with the original. Madonna releases this September her third greatest hits CD since 2001’s GHV2 and 1990’s The Immaculate Collection, entitled Celebration. The ultimate collection comes in 2 editions: Standard and Deluxe. The standard comprises 18 of her most successful tracks from Like A Virgin to Music and Vogue to Frozen including the title track now playing in the airwaves everywhere. Meanwhile, the deluxe 2-disc set with a whopping no. of 36 hit singles including songs such as Crazy For You, Beautiful Stranger, Live To Tell among others, is released as a must-have compilation for any Madonna fan or otherwise. Only a celebration fit for a Queen!

Meanwhile, the now queen of pop (arguably) Britney will be releasing ‘The Singles Collection’, her 2nd hits compilation after 2004’s My Prerogative: Greatest Hits. With a tentative release date by November, the CD will be introduced with a new song called ‘3’ to be released this September. Also sporting 2 versions: the standard and deluxe, the former with 17 tracks and the latter in a special box set with 29 of our all-time favorite songs from her chart-topping albums since 1999’s Baby One More Time to this year’s comeback album Circus and get this: a DVD feature of Spears’ videos in chronological order! Now I must have this. Definitely a Britney fanatic collector’s item.

I never thought that’s what Britney’s song meant! well, i’ve been thinking about what ‘If You Seek Amy” meant for quite some time now. Now I know. Although the song still doesn’t make sense to me but… “Love me, hate me, say what you want about me. But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to F-U-C-K me…” Ooops! she did it again!

Speaking of songs, I’m currently addicted to Kelly’s My Life Would Suck Without You, It’s Over by Jesse McCartney, the catchy Diva and Halo sung amazingly by Beyonce, Lady GaGa’s 2nd single Just Dance, believe it or not Kanye’s Heartless, the song Please Don’t Leave Me by Pink (the video’s scary btw), Thinking Of You by Katy Perry, Ciara’s back with Love Sex and Magic, James Morrison and Nelly Furtado with Broken Strings and finally, Love Story by Taylor Swift… Anyone love those songs too??
