If you ask me, bumlife is treating me great so far – awesome even! I mean, here you are without a care in the world, no deadlines to rush, no nagging boss (disclaimer: not that I had one hehe). I didn’t plan to be unemployed but I knew it wasn’t going to stop me from resigning. Technically, its been over a month but.. if I had to count from when I actually stopped working, its just been 3 weeks since. So you can tell I’m still on a high. But I have to admit, at times it does get almost unbearably boring. And that’s where money comes in. 😀 I’m now spending & living off what’s left of my savings & of course, my credit cards. I know that’s not healthy so don’t give me that look. I’m getting the hang of this situation though. And I think the more the days pass, the more I’m getting comfortable which is scary. I don’t want to get to a point when I don’t have a clue anymore like I’m back to square one. So all I’m up to now aside from loitering the house & crashing the mall, is finding a replacement. I am as ‘actively seeking’ as any unemployed bloke. Funny I should use that last word. I’m reading a lot of Potter lately that I might blurt out something in my interviews like “I reckon…” or “Blimey!”. Just the thought of it makes me laugh. You know what, I’m no expert in analogy, but I’m really feeling like Harry – yes the boy who lived, whenever he’s stuck in Privet Drive. I feel like I’m cut off from the “real world”. Of course for him it meant the wizarding world or Hogwarts and for me, let’s just say one need not have much imagination. As much as I hate to admit it and my friends are going to enjoy this more than I do, I miss them. They are every bit my only connection to the outside world and when you’re used to seeing them almost everyday then suddenly don’t, you tend to get a little “needy”. 😉 Okay I’m going on here forever, I should’ve named this post Harry Potter & Unemployment but it wouldn’t make any sense, would it? So, yeah, other than that I’m just fine.
While his mentor Usher managed to sneak up on the Soul/R&B Male & Album awards, JB didn’t hold back one bit. Thanks to online voting, Bieber swept the awards for Pop/Rock Male, Album, Breakthrough Artist and even Artist of the Year which is a huge deal. Personally, I think it should’ve went to Eminem, who did win Rap/Hip-Hop Male & Album. Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift & Rihanna each won Female artist for their respective category & also Lady Antebellum for Country Duo/Group/Band! Love them! Glee was also awarded for the Soundtrack category.
The American Music Awards’ list of performers has something for everyone: Rihanna, Taylor, Xtina, Pink, Santana, BEP, Ke$ha, Katy but probably the best of the night was NKOTBSB, closing the show spectacularly. Enjoyed their performance so much! Everyone was up to their feet and singing along, really brings me memories of my teenhood. Oh if I’m talking chinese, I meant New Kids on the Block & the Backstreet Boys. 🙂
Below are some of the fantastical red carpet action:
“I’m happy its not Brad” said George Clooney jokingly, frankly me too. After Johnny Depp last year, I thought People was not so keen on giving the rest of the male population a chance. But surprisingly, the choice this year is Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds whom we all know for films such as Van Wilder, Just Friends, Blade Trinity, X-men Origins: Wolverine, The Proposal and just recently, Buried. This special double cover issue of People magazine is also in celebration of its 25th anniversary in handing out the title. Wondered who was the first SMA ever back in 1986? (my birthyear btw) It’s none other than the now controversial Mel Gibson. And did you know, the only black actor ever to get the title is Denzel Washington. The oldest so far is Sean Connery. Clooney, Pitt & Depp are the very few who got to be SMA twice.
Reynolds dons the cover with his shirt on though – his body is ripped! And I don’t know how this helps him with the ladies since he is out of the market. He’s husband to 2010 GQ’s Babe of the Year, Scarlett Johansson. He’ll star in a major role as DC superhero, The Green Lantern set for a 2011 release. Would like to see that body suit in action! 😉
Here’s some sneak-peek of the men who made the list:
I saw this along the Ayala underpass yesterday and I immediately felt giddy inside:
I so wanted to watch this right there and then but I know I’d have to wait until next week. I’m looking for reservations and they are full already. I want to watch on the first day but I’d have to wait for my friends who are busy because I’m not, hehe. You can tell I’m in an HP craze as of the moment. 😀
I’m just really hyped, THIS IS IT! Part 1 of the finale, I’m expecting the movie will leave you hanging and craving for the main dish ahead. For Part 2, it kills me that we’d have to wait until July 2011 (that’s 8 months) but I think it works here. There’s much to be excluded if they’d fit it into one. And plus, it just makes the ending more grand. The anticipation is building up inside… I CANNOT WAIT! 🙂
I don’t really think The Social Network tells the story of the famous Facebook founder, I mean not entirely I guess to some extent, but damn it was good. For me, one sign that I really loved something is the aftershock. When after watching, you think about it and analyze everything you saw – that’s a good movie because it keeps you interested. I especially enjoyed the dialogues and those smart-ass lines, kudos to Aaron Sorkin and of course director, David Fincher. Jesse Eisenberg is great and really defined the character. I’m no critic, but I think he should get nominated for his portrayal of the punk genius traitor billionaire. The rest of the cast are notable as well. This is a great début for Andrew Garfield aka the new Spider-man, who plays co-founder Eduardo Saverin. Even Justin Timberlake gave his best performance in his acting career as Napster founder, Sean Parker. Armie Hammer was also effective in playing both of the Winklevoss twins who claimed that Zuckerberg stole the idea from them.
At the end of it all, I’m just bummed that Zuckerberg had to settle the lawsuits. I’m so impressed with the acting and the writing and speaking of, there’s so many lines I liked in the movie that I can list them:
1. “If you guys were the creators of Facebook, you would’ve created Facebook.”
2. “I’m CEO, bitch.”
3. “A million dollars isn’t cool. You know what’s cool? A billion dollars.”
4. “I like standing next to you, Sean. It makes me look tougher.”
5. “You better lawyer up, asshole because I’m not coming back for 30%. I’m coming back for everything.”
6. “She was under oath.” “Then I guess that would the first time somebody lied under oath.”
7. “You’re one of the founders of Facebook and you don’t know how to change your relationship status?”
8. “You’re not an asshole Mark, you’re just trying hard to be one.”
9. “No I want to hire the Sopranos to bash him over the head with a hammer.”
10. “If your clients wants to sit on my shoulders and call themselves tall, they have the right to give it a try.”
Actually, there’s still more. I just can’t remember. Anyways, go watch it!
I ♥ my new playlist and I think you will too. Give these songs a go and let me know what you think. 🙂
1. Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)
Katy Perry’s latest single is actually ‘Firework’ but I’m really enjoying this one better. Fun song to sing along with. I’d like to call out to her and say this should be her 4th single, hands down! Please… 😀
2. Who Owns My Heart
The ever so in a hurry to grow up Disney discovery got me again with this one. Miley Cyrus’ really turning out to be the pop princess she ought to be. It’s a bit more mature sound and I love it, well the video says it all.
3. Please Don’t Go
This guy is really impressing me. I can’t wait to listen to the album, 31 Minutes To Takeoff. After debuting with Cooler Than Me, Mike Posner delivers another catchy hit.
4. Whip My Hair
Okay I’m joining the Smith bandwagon, I can’t get this out of my head! After Jaden’s movie début, Willow Smith released her first single and catches everyone’s attention.
5. For The First Time
The Script is back! Science & Faith is the new album and you can’t miss that unique sound of theirs.
6. Raise Your Glass
Pink releases a compilation entitled ‘Greatest Hits … So Far!!!’. Great energy as always.
Whether its meant for Kanye West or not, I love the lyrics of this song. With bullying getting more and more attention lately about how serious it can become, I think Taylor Swift is doing a great job helping in her own way.
I don’t know much about Cheryl Cole, I have to admit, but I like this song. It’s nice to have a new sound on my playlist every now and then.
9. Who’s That Chick
I’m getting a clear idea on what the new record of Rihanna will be like. And it’s pretty awesome. Great follow-up to Only Girl (In The World).
I’ve listened to these tracks for a hundred times already and now, I can’t wait to get my hands on my iPod and do it all again. 🙂
